I am an NF survivor. I can take a deep breath of air because I am not in respiratory distress anymore. I am 23 years old and went in for a routine laporoscopy and came out and went home; within hours I was vomiting and had a fever of 104.9. I was taken to the hospital by ambulance and the next couple of days until the doctors figured out what was going on, I was dying. I finally had a diagnosis - NF. I am a student nurse and have never heard of this, guess I did not get that far yet! I went in for the emergency surgery but before that, I was in kidney failure and respiratory arrest. I was on ventilators after the surgery but was told that every hour after they took out the bacteria, I started to get better. I am on the heavier side so I guess I have my fat to thank because if it was to eat at my organs, I would not be here today. I would like to talk to anyone if they can give me answers as to why this happened to me and will it happen again, please let me know. As you can see I have so far recovered but have a huge hole in my stomach where nurses come out and do wet to dry dressing changes, I will eventually have a wound vac but until then I will just have to be patient and pray to God every night to keep me healthy . Thank you for listening.
